FASTrack

Fast Analysis & Simulation Tool for Cycling Networks — an RMIT University research platform.

FASTrack is an RMIT-developed decision support platform for planning and evaluating cycling networks. Edit the cycling network in your browser, upload a scenario, and compare it against a full agent-based travel model — in a fraction of the usual processing time. It is an industry research collaboration between RMIT University, iMOVE CRC, the City of Greater Bendigo, and the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning.

About FASTrack

FASTrack is a cycling infrastructure scenario-modelling tool powered by RMIT's RACE. It combines interactive network editing with fast-tracked agent-based modelling, producing results comparable to the Bendigo Activity-Based Model in a fraction of the processing time.

User created scenarios are compared against a baseline generated by the full Bendigo ABM — built on the VITM 2018 synthetic population and VISTA 2012–2023 travel surveys — so users can see the effect of their proposed cycleways on behaviour across six demographic clusters.

Capabilities

Maker — edit the cycling network interactively

The Maker page lets you make precise edits to Bendigo's cycling network without leaving the browser. Change the cycleway type of existing links, draw new ones with custom attributes, or remove infrastructure entirely.

Viewer — compare outcomes against the baseline

The Viewer page presents your scenario's outputs in interactive SimWrapper dashboards. Each scenario is compared against the Bendigo Activity-Based Model baseline, broken out by six demographic clusters so you can see how different groups respond.
